Assembly Member Russell George has urged residents to report sightings of rats in their neighbourhood.
A number of residents have reported sightings and in order to deal with the issue, it is important to understand exactly where the problems are.
Russell George, AM for Montgomeryshire who is also a County Councillor covering the Vaynor estate, would like residents to contact him if they have seen rats in their gardens or property.
He said:
“I’m urging all residents to rat on a rat.
“I would like to encourage residents to remain vigilant as rats can transmit disease and have already been seen burrowing in gardens on Vaynor.
“I have been liaising with the Housing Association and the County Council’s Department for Environmental Protection in order to resolve the problem with haste.
“However, to stamp out this problem, we need to understand the scale of the issue and map the locations of the rats.
“Please contact my office on 01686 610887 if you would like to report a sighting or have any issues or concerns.”
