Farming communities across Wales deserve better than the Labour government’s approach to TB eradication.
That’s the message from Welsh Conservatives – following remarks made to BBC Wales by Christianne Glossop.
Wales’ Chief Veterinary Officer said: ‘…right now, we have no evidence that the vaccination programme in badgers is delivering an additional benefit - and we wouldn't expect to see any evidence at this stage either.’
The comments come ahead of a worldwide conference on TB control.
Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Rural Affairs and Natural Resources, Russell George AM, said:
“Welsh farmers are facing one Labour bombshell after another – and the confusion surrounding TB eradication is another slap in the face.
“Tried and tested methods of eradicating TB continue to be ignored and the huge costs involved could be far better used.
“The Welsh farming industry is at breaking point thanks to Labour’s mismanagement – and its famers deserve better.
“Many will wonder whether they will ever see a TB free Wales in their lifetimes.”
