Commenting on the announcement of the Provisional Local Government Settlement 2014-15by the Welsh Government, Montgomeryshire Assembly Member, Russell George, said:
"Powys Council’s worst fears have come true as it’s once again receiving the brunt end of unprecedented Welsh Government’s cuts of local government in Wales.
"This is the seventh year in a row that it has received the largest budget cut of Welsh local authorities and with a proposed reduction of 4.6% (£8.7m), many local services are going to be under severe threat.
"I have pressed Ministers that providing public services in a large sparsely populated rural county, is challenge and the funding formula to allocate resources should reflect that but my argument and the calls from the people of Mid Wales continues to fall on deaf ears."
