In September, we saw the sad final closures of the Barclays branches in Welshpool and Newtown announced earlier in the summer.
Following a substantial amount of campaigning and meetings, I am pleased that Barclays have announced that they will continue to provide in-person sessions in community venues.
These sessions will be as follows:
Every Monday / Wednesday in Welshpool at 1st Clive's Own Welshpool Scout Headquarters & Community Centre (COWSHACC)
Every Tuesday, Thursday & Friday in Newtown at EvaBuild, Ladywell Business Centre, New Church Street, Newtown SY16 1AF.
All sessions have opening times of 9:30 to 16:30.
Services offered at these sessions will include balance requests, financial reviews and support with digital banking. Sadly, cash-related transactions (paying in and withdrawals) will not be possible in these sessions and will need to be undertaken in local Post Offices.
A positive development has been news that a LINK Banking Hub (where customers of all major banks can use services like paying in cash and cheques) is being proposed in Welshpool.
In September, Craig Williams MP and I met with LINK to discuss their plans and to feedback to them the needs of banking customers across Montgomeryshire which were clearly shown in my recent survey.
