National Lottery funding for six projects in Montgomeryshire has been welcomed by local AM, Russell George.
The Assembly Member for Montgomeryshire welcomed the announcement that £142,332 of National Lottery funding was awarded to Montgomeryshire in June after six projects successfully applied to The National Lottery Community Fund.
Responding to the announcement, Mr George said:
"I would like to congratulate all of the local groups who have secured National Lottery funding for their projects.
"In particular, I would like to welcome the significant £93,360 grant for Treowen Community Hall which will mean that a new multi-games area can replace the redundant tennis court. This will allow children and young people to access a safe and accessible play facility.
"I'm very much looking forward to visiting the different projects to see how this invaluable National Lottery funding is invested for the benefit of the people of Montgomeryshire and I congratulate the dedicated local people who applied and were successful in securing this investment for their communities."
Treowen Community Hall
were awarded a £99,360 grant to replace a redundant tennis court with a multi-use games area allowing children and young people to access a safe and accessible play facility. The project will reduce isolation and antisocial behaviour by increasing opportunities for socialisation and provide further opportunities for younger people.
Mid Wales Housing Association Ltd
received a grant of £5,635 to work with residents to transform and improve an unused area of land, which is presently connected with anti-social behaviour, through a community gardening project with the aim of improving their well-being.
Clatter Community Centre Limited
will use their £9,960 grant to make essential improvements to the centre’s facilities, to ensure that the building meets users needs, which were identified during consultations with the local community.
Llanfechain Horticultural Show & Sports Society
were also successful and will use the £7,379 grant to run their annual event, designed in partnership with local organisations, bringing the community together and showcasing the village.
Montgomery Town Council
will use the grant to increase accessibility to the upper floors of the Town Hall, for residents with mobility restrictions. This grant for £10,000 will fund the supply and installation of a wheelchair lift.
Four Crosses Village Centre Committee
received £9,998 and will use the grant to improve the building’s facilities for the local community including funding curtains and rails, a projector and screen, and re-painting costs.
