Local AM, Russell George, visited the North Montgomeryshire Volunteer Bureau (NMVB) last week (Tuesday 1st August) to hear about their community car scheme.
Mr George was pleased to meet with volunteers to discuss the scheme which helps vulnerable people get out into the community to access services, from helping people do their shopping to attending appointments.
Following the visit, Mr George said:
"I was delighted to meet with volunteers from the North Montgomeryshire Volunteer Bureau to learn more about the community car scheme which plays such an invaluable role in supporting the most vulnerable people in our community do things which others take for granted.
"In a world which is all too often marked by bad news, it was heartening to see volunteers do something positive for their neighbours and local community.
"After my visit, it is clear to me that without this service, some people would simply not be able to get out of the house and would be more reliant on social services.
"If you feel that you would like to support NMVB by volunteering as a driver, helping in the office or as a Trustee, please make contact as it will mean that more people in the local community will be able to benefit from the community car scheme.
"I hope the service goes from strength to strength and I will support the Bureau in any way I can in the future."
