A local AM has joined the Forden WI for an event to mark their “Week of Action” in support of Climate Change.
This October, Women’s Institutes from across the UK are holding a ‘Week of Action” in support of Climate Change and inviting their local representatives to join them.
This week (Friday 14th October) Russell George, Assembly Member for Montgomeryshire, joined the Forden WI for a “Green Heart Day” which saw them work alongside the local playgroup to hold activities with the aim of making the children aware of the impact of climate change and the measures which they can take to minimise its impact.
Following the event, Mr George said:
“I was pleased to be able to accept the kind invitation from the Forden WI to accompany them on their “Green Heart Day” with the local playgroup.
“It is fantastic that the local WI has engaged with younger children to raise awareness of climate change.
"Mid Wales has an abundance of natural resources. It's been my view that we must have a much broader basket when it comes to renewable energy and we are ideally placed to support hydropower and a number of community supported schemes.”
