A local AM has recently launched an exhibition at the National Assembly for Wales of a painting of the Montgomery Town Crier by talented local artist, Daniel Yeomans.
Last week, (Thursday 6th October), Russell George, Assembly Member for Montgomeryshire, hosted a group of Montgomery residents at the Senedd in Cardiff Bay for the launch event which saw the unveiling of a painting of their Town Crier, Sue Blower, in full ceremonial regalia.
Prominently displayed in the Senedd Oriel, the painting will be on display throughout October.
Following the launch event, Russell George said:
“I was delighted to be able to host the Montgomery Town Crier, Sue Blower and residents from Montgomery at the Senedd to unveil the wonderful painting of Sue by Llandyssil-based artist, Daniel Yeomans.
“We were even treated to a special proclamation from Sue, complete with bell ringing, describing the creation of the painting by Daniel.
“Sue is a wonderful ambassador for Montgomery and it was my pleasure to showcase original art from Montgomeryshire and support Daniel who is such a talented local artist.
“I hope that Daniel’s career goes from strength to strength and I look forward to seeing more of his outstanding work.”
Daniel Yeomans added:
“I am very grateful to Russell for sponsoring the exhibition of my portrait 'Montgomery Town Crier' at the Senedd. It is a wonderful opportunity to showcase my work.
“Sue is a fantastic local personality and I hope that I have reflected the passion she has for her role as Montgomery Town Crier in my painting.
“After the exhibition in the Senedd, the painting will return to my studio and I hope, eventually to Montgomery, where residents and visitors can enjoy viewing it as I have enjoyed painting it."
