The Assembly Member for Montgomeryshire, Russell George, called for the Deputy Minister for Farming and Food to provide urgent clarity to those farmers who are yet to receive their payments.
Mr George said:
“Farmers are at their wits’ end as a result of not receiving their single farm payments.
“The Welsh Government has previously stated that it would write to all farmers who had not been paid by the end of January, but as it stands today, many farmers are still in the dark about when they can expect to receive their payments and the specific reasons why they haven’t been paid.
“The Welsh Government’s mismanagement of this process has made it impossible for farmers and suppliers to plan financially.
“This administrative farce is having a significant impact on the whole agricultural supply chain and it is now time for the Welsh Government to dedicate additional resource to ensure that farmers have urgent clarity on the timetable for payments to alleviate this unnecessary pressure on an already hard-pressed farming industry.”
