While Mark Bridger has been formally charged with the murder of April Jones, the police are still appealing to the public for information which may help them find April.
- They are looking to trace the movements of Mark Bridger between 6.30pm on Monday and 3.30pm on Tuesday and any sightings of him between these times.
- They also need information regarding the movements of the blue Land Rover Discovery registration L503 MEP between these times.
If you have any information, no matter how small, about these two key points, then could you please ring Dyfed Powys Police on the dedicated hotline number 0300 2000 333, as it may prove to be vital in finding April Jones.
The police are also keen to stress that as the dynamics of the search have now changed, due to the passage of time and the developments within the investigation, they no longer feel it is appropriate to expect untrained members of the public to continue the search.
They now only require professional searchers to be involved in the on-going search which continues in and around Machynlleth.
Dyfed Powys Police want to acknowledge and are extremely grateful for the efforts of the community volunteers who have supported the professional searchers in trying to locate her.
As the Assembly Member for Montgomeryshire, I would like to personally thank all the emergency services, both professional and volunteer organisations, who have been involved with the on-going search operation. Their dedication is a testament to their professionalism and they should be commended.
I want to thank Powys County Council and Machynlleth Town Council staff for their unstinting efforts and I also want to thank staff at the Welsh Government office in Aberystwyth for everything they have done to support the police operation.
However in particular, I would also like to pay tribute to the courage, determination and spirit shown by the many community volunteers that have stepped forward to help in this search over these last few days. Quite frankly, their commitment has been an inspiration to us all and they cannot be thanked enough.
Finally, my thoughts and prayers are with the parents, family and friends of April Jones at this very difficult time.
