A Mid Wales Assembly Member has criticised the intention to close a stretch of the A483 in Newtown the day before the Royal Welsh Show.
A traffic order will temporarily ban all vehicles from travelling along the A483 between the Kerry Road junction, and Tesco from 20:00 hours to 22:30 hours on Sunday 19th July.
This week (7th July) Russell George, AM for Montgomeryshire, raised the issue with the Leader of the House, Jane Hutt, in the National Assembly for Wales.
Mr George said:
"We all know that this junction is busy at the best of times, not alone the day before the Royal Welsh Show.
"I would like clarification as to why this date was chosen and whether the works can be postponed until a more appropriate time.
"Short of that, I would like assurances that disruption will be kept to a minimum for Mid Wales residents and the traffic passing through the town."
