A local AM has shown his support for Welsh Game at a special event held at the Pierhead Building in Cardiff Bay.
Russell George, AM for Montgomeryshire, co-sponsored the Countryside Alliance’s Game-to-Eat event which was hosted by S4C chef Dudley Newbury, who demonstrated quick and easy recipes to promote Welsh Game.
On the menu was red pheasant curry and the classic, Duck a l’Orange.
Mr George, who is also Shadow Minister for Food said:
“I was delighted to have the opportunity to co-sponsor this event to promote Welsh Game – an industry which provides around 2400 jobs and is worth £75 million to the economy in Wales.
“The demonstration at the Game-to-Eat event showed just how versatile Game can be – healthy local produce which can be incorporated into our everyday diet at relatively low cost.
“I hope that everyone will get behind the fantastic Welsh Game industry this Autumn.”
Rachel Evans, Countryside Alliance director for Wales, said:
“It was a superb evening celebrating local produce that gets little or no promotion here in Wales. Game is very versatile, with low food miles, it’s free range and healthy. It is in plentiful supply at this time of year and can be used in so many different ways.
“Eating game is becoming increasingly popular yet we have very little in means of promotion. Game-to-Eat is the flagship campaign for game here in Wales and I welcome any opportunity to promote it.”
