Commenting on the publication of the ‘Greenhouse Gas Inventories for England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland report’ (providing data for 2010), Shadow Minister for Environment Russell George AM said:
"While I cautiously welcome any decrease in figures, it is clear that there is still much work to be done.
"Many of the figures published here are worrying and in some areas – such as Land Use Change and Industrial Process – show a rise in emissions. Equally worrying is an apparent lack of any movement in residential and transport emissions.
"That’s not good enough and the Welsh Government must look at the problems as a matter of priority.
"This isn’t just about reducing our energy dependence and protecting the environment; we are also missing the chance to reduce costs for more businesses and households."
