Royal Mail staff at Newtown's Royal Mail delivery depot have been thanked by a local Assembly Member for all of their hard work in preparation for Christmas.
Russell George, AM for Montgomeryshire, paid a visit to staff at the Royal Mail sorting and delivery office in Newtown to thank all the hard working posties for ensuring that all the letters and packages are delivered in time for Christmas.
Following the visit this week (Monday 17th December), Mr George, said:
“I was delighted to be able to meet some of the dedicated Royal Mail team at their busiest time of year to see for myself what it takes to deliver the Christmas mail to the people of Montgomeryshire.
“A huge amount of effort goes in to ensuring that our Christmas cards, letters and parcels are delivered on time.
“It was a great privilege to be able to pay a visit to pass on my best wishes for Christmas to staff who do such a fantastic job in all weathers to ensure that Christmas gifts from friends and family are delivered without a hitch.
“I even gave them some of my Christmas Cards so that they get to their intended destination in time for Christmas.
"Don't forget, if you’re posting some last minute gifts and cards, use a postcode to ensure efficient delivery and don’t forget that Royal Mail's latest recommended posting dates for delivery are Thursday 20th December for first class mail and 22nd December for special delivery."
